If someone on GitHub tries to submit a patch by filing a pull request, it creates a pull request on GitHub and sends a notification email that goes to our dev mailing list, with a From address of git@git.apache.org. This bypasses our issue tracker, leaves the author out of any discussion, and cannot easily be replied to the author.
