Indexes
This probably seems a pretty ridiculous question, but:
I cannot seem to get Apache to return a directory listing for a particular
directory,
i.e. http://some.where.com/listme/
In the past, I've used something like the following to make this work:
--->8----------------------
Alias /listme /var/www/listme
Alias /listme/ /var/www/listme/
<Location /listme>
Options Indexes FollowSymLinks
AllowOverride None
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
</Location>
--->8----------------------
The problem is, if I point my browser at the appropriate URL, I get a "403
Forbidden" error.
I've also tried using a "<Directory /var/www/html/listme>" block in place of
the "<Location /listme>"
without the Aliases (/var/www/html is DocumentRoot), and "AllowOverride All"
in various combinations
with a .htaccess file, but have had no success.
I must be overlooking something really dumb and obvious. I've done this
before, and it wasn't rocket science, I just
don't remember how.
I'm using:
Apache-AdvancedExtranetServer/1.3.23 with
mod_vhost_alias
mod_ssl
mod_php4
mod_so
mod_autoindex
mod_dir
(... and others ...)
On Linux (Mandrake 8.1 -- kernel 2.4.18)
Can someone please shed some light on this dim quandry? :)
Thanks,
Norm Kaye
BTW: I HAVE read the docs, and the above should work -- at least, in my
understanding :)
