problems on running build.bat in sample

Hello, everyone:
 I copied sample directory to C:\tomcat\webapps from
C:\tomcat\doc\appdev. Then I run build.bat which is
 in sample directory. I always get these error messages:
 Registry key 'Software\Javasoft\Java Runtime
Environment\CurrentVersion' has value '1.2', but '1.4' is required.
 Error: could not find java.dll
 Error: could not find Java 2 Runtime Environment.
  
 I am using Tomcat 3.2.3 in Windows Me.
  
 Any advice is really appreciated.
