[beanutils] any volunteers for bug #12458?

i reckon that the only bug (as opposed to enhancement) which isn't in hand 
is

this bug may have been squashed by the fix to #10478 or it might still 
exist. (it's another getProperty syntax issue.) a test case needs creating 
to discover whether this bug still exists. if it does, then it needs 
fixing.

if anyone fancies volunteering to provide a test case (and possibly a fix)
  then they should assign the bug to themselves in bugzilla and get going!

(if not, i'll get round to it this weekend, sometime.)
