svn delete
I did a svn checkout from a repository to a directory and that worked
correctly. I did this as a test of some code I am writing in Python. I know
want to delete the directory from under svn control so I open a command
window and type 'svn delete mydirectory'. I get back a message saying that
the parent directory of the directory I want to delete is not a working
copy. I do not understand this. SVN let me create a directory under SVN
control but it is not letting me remove the directory from SVN control. Or
have I missed something here ?

You can also chdir to the directory you want to delete, "svn delete .",
then commit. You'll get an error as it tries to delete the directory
you're currently in, but the delete will take.

Or, just 'rm -rf' the working copy, and to remove it from the
repository, you don't need a working copy at all: 'svn rm URL'

Are you trying to remove the directory you checked out from under SVN
control? If so, you need to check out the *parent* directory in order
to remove the child directory.
