    Resolution: Won't Fix

As I've gotten no response to the last query I'm just going to close.  I used to think it would be better to have everything protected when I was on your side as well - but now that I have to make things backwards compatible / etc I'm liking the idea much less.  If there was something specific that you had in mind which isn't currently already being handled please feel free to re-open or submit a new ticket.
