[Newbie] Cocoon, whitespace and DTD

I'm sorry if these questions should have been asked in another
forum, but I'm not sure, so here goes:

1. Some of the HTML-markup produced look really awful (ie. strange
indenting), despite efforts made by me to keep the XSL-file nice and
tidy. Is it something I can do to make the source look better. (And
thus easier to check for errors etc.)

(Is it now I should put on the flameproof suite? :-)

2. Is it possible to change the DTD for HTML (or other formats produced)?
I'd really like to serve transitional/xhtml etc., and the strict.dtd doesn't
match the HTML actually served by some of my XSLs.

3. Can I generate XML with XSP, and have that output processed by another XSP?

I started using Cocoon last sunday night, and I got to say that it's a _very_
impressiving system. I've been using ASP, Perl, <insert-web-shite-here>, and
this is so far some of the best I've used.

I especially liked the architecture and it seems like it's easy to make extensions
etc., so I think I'll dig deep into this. So, thanks to the Cocoon-community!
