   May I ask  in what scenario we're going to distinguish between [] and nil?  @spacewander 
   
   From the FE point of view, which is closer to the meaning of data expression than to semantics at the code level,  both the field empty and nil all indicate that the field is not configured, so we would suggest that treate the two types of data equally.
   
   Data transformation between user data and underlying data is inevitable, It's best that these two data are the same, if there is a disagreement, we may need an agreement to deal with it.
