Sorry for the delay.
Wildcard is a simplification of Regex, While regex has a very strong
mathematical background wildcards are much simpler:

תווי־בחירה is my personal choice.
Morfix suggests this http://www.morfix.co.il/wildcard.

previous mail that wildcards are different, and asked whether תווי-בחירה is
an official translation, or is it your suggestion.
