Re[2]: [VOTE] Retire Heron from the Incubator

ok thank you... so the tech stays 'open source' or can someone claim it
as commercial (and start charging for it?)?

I agree, Saad. This was my first open source project and I sunk a ton of
time into it.

However, it was not for nothing. I learned a ton about the tech, the
Apache Way and made a few new friends along the way.

I’ll carry this over to general@a.o in a bit.

This project represents thousands of hours of engineering and a
considerable portion of people's professional lives. It is therefore
with a heavy heart that I vote:

+1 [X] Retire Heron from the Incubator

We are the custodians of this codebase, and it is our responsibility
to convey to any potential end-users that it is no longer being
maintained. I wish it could have graduated to a top-level project and
then transitioned to the attic.

You can do what you want with the Heron software. You cannot use the trademarks Heron nor Apache in the name of your successor version.

Ron,

Knowing what you know now, does it change your vote?

Apache license do not stop you commercializing the software. Feel free to
have a look the license in GitHub, it has a quick helper explain to you.
