I don't think it is actually possible to influence the default phase through Mojo parameters. Therefore closing as Won't Fix.

According to https://maven.apache.org/guides/introduction/introduction-to-the-lifecycle.html#Lifecycle_Reference the phase {{generate-sources}} should be used instead of {{compile}}.
