[DISCUSS] 4.11.1.0 release

All,

I would like to kick a discussion around the next 4.11 LTS minor/bugfix release - 4.11.1.0.

Many of us have tried to discuss, triage and fix issues that you've reported both on users and dev MLs. It is possible that some of those discussions have not met a conclusion/solution yet. Therefore, first check if your reported issue has been reported or fixed towards the 4.11.1.0 milestone from here:

https://github.com/apache/cloudstack/milestone/5

In case it is not reported/fixed, please report your issues with details here (perhaps giving link to an existing email thread):

https://github.com/apache/cloudstack/issues

When you do report an issue (or send a PR), especially upgrade or regression related, please do use the milestone 4.11.1.0 along with suitable labels which will make it easier to triage them.

I still don't have an exact timeline to share yet but I'll try to get that shared as soon as next week. Thanks.

All,

I've updated/uploaded the 4.11.1 systemvmtemplates here:

http://download.cloudstack.org/systemvm/4.11/

http://packages.shapeblue.com/systemvmtemplate/4.11/

The above template includes the recent Linux security release 4.9.88-1 in Debian 9.4:

https://www.debian.org/security/2018/dsa-4187
https://www.debian.org/security/2018/dsa-4188

Here are the work-in-progress release notes:

http://docs.cloudstack.apache.org/projects/cloudstack-release-notes/en/4.11/ (upon release the final destination will go to 4.11.1.0 instead of 4.11)

For users/developers wanting to participate early towards the 4.11.1.0 RC testing, I've created this repo from latest 4.11 branch (with the rolling VR restart PR):

https://lab.yadav.cloud/testing/4.11.1-pre-rc1/

Here's the items/issues/PRs against the 4.11.1.0 milestone:

https://github.com/apache/cloudstack/milestone/5

** We've only four unsolved/work-in-progress item out of 10 from above list.

Please go through the above milestone list, especially users - if there was an issue we missed please do let us know. It is possible that we are unable to fix minor/normal issues related to ui, api etc. towards 4.11.1.0 which is why some of the reported issues have been postponed to 4.11.2.0. That said, let's not miss any blockers in 4.11.1.0. Thanks.

Thanks Wido (and Gabriel)!

Update - I'll spend next 2.5 weeks to triage issues, work with everyone to reviews, fix, test PRs. The rough timeline is to work on that and try an get RC1 voting started by the end of next month, maybe as early as mid-May (14-15 May). If RC1 voting is not started by mid-May, then Daan/Paul will carry the RM effort forward.

Therefore, dev/users please report issues, help with bug reporting or testing latest 4.11, or report issues you've found in 4.11.0.0.
