Can't get dav_Svn to load in Windows 2000 Server

Hi!!

After testing on my own machine, a laptop Dell I now have borrowed an old
server for networked repository testing. There has been no problems to get
Dav_svn or Apache to run on my laptop (win 2000). Apache installs and runs
fine on the server, but when I try to add dav_svn to httpd.config on the
server it will not load.

I have compared the conf files of my laptop and the server, they are the
same. I have installed Apache and dav_svn the same way on both machines.

I get the message

Cannot load d:/Program Files/Apache Group/Apache2/modules/mod_dav_svn.so
into server: The specified module could not be found.

But the module is there, just as all the other modules for Apache!

Could this be a path env. variable problem? Have tried to add some paths to
svn and to apache to the variable without success. Could this be a access
rights problem? But why is only dav_svn making trouble and not ordinary DAV?

SV: SV: Can't get dav_Svn to load in Windows 2000 Server

Posted by Tomas Sandkvist <to...@protang.se>.
Problem solved, after I ran Dependency Walker as suggested I found that the file MSVCP60.dll was missing from my system. And that's a bit curious since I've done a clean install from the Win 2000 Server disks. The dll is as far as I can understand not a part of the svn install package.

But now my Apache server is up and running!

Hm. Very, very curious. Try putting libdb40.dll in the modules
directory, anyway; maybe that'll help. By the way, are you running
Apache as a service, or some other way?

That's fine for getting file:// access to work, but Apache won't look
there if run as a service.

Run Dependency Walker on mod_dav_svn.so. It will show you what dependencies are missing. Dependency Walker is included with Visual Studio, but you can also download it form www.dependencywalker.com.

Hi Branko!!

Tried what you suggest, placed the libraries (libdb40.dll, libeay32.dll, ssleay32.dll) into the bin folder. No success. Actually, on my laptop I have these libraries in d:\Programs\svn and that works?

Any more suggestions would be appreciated

Yep, this is most often the problem. Except that the best place for the
BDB DLL is in Apache's bin directory.

Apache might not be able to find the Berkeley DB libraries. Either put
them in the same directory as your Apache modules, or put them somewhere
in the path of the user that Apache runs as.

P.S. I've never run a Subversion server on Windows, so the above might
not be correct, but I seem to remember something like it mentioned a few
times on the dev list in the past. Search the archives if you're not
sure.
