Are the .dotnet.* project files now the default?

Hi,

with #1435[0] merged, should we move to using those build files by default?
Can the old ones be deleted?

Hi Markus,

Yes  - I just sent email (I had one drafted) that explains the steps for
how the transition will happen. Please let me know if you have any question
or concerns.
