Jboss to TomEE migration - Eclipse Issues
I've just started playing around with migrating our JBoss applications to
TomEE. This question might be unrelated to TomEE, so I apologize if this is
the wrong forum.
I created the TomEE server instance following the instructions from here
<http://tomee.apache.org/tomee-and-eclipse.html> . I published my existing
project that we had previously been deploying to JBoss, and the server
starts just fine. I can see all of our EJBs being started. The only
problem is that none of our views are being deployed. Does that mean our
project is not being recognized as a dynamic web project? What does Eclipse
look for to determine what to publish to TomEE?
The directory that is published to TomEE only contains a WEB-INF/classes
directory with all the built classes from the project. What changes are
needed to our Eclipse project so that it discovers and publishes all the web
resources? Right now the directory structure of our project is a little
strange. The xhtml/css/images are in a <project>/view directory, and the
WEB-INF resources are within a <project>/resources/WEB-INF directory.
Please let me know if you need additional details! Thanks!

No problem, I'm so glad that's done the trick! Thanks for letting us know.

Editing the "Deployment Assembly" settings is what I was missing. After
updating the deployment assembly settings, all the needed resources are
being deployed. Now I'm just working through some runtime dependency
issues. Thanks so much for your help!

Hi,
If it is a cdi/jsf project maybe add a faces-config.xml file to activate
jsf deployment

Just had another thought - can you bring up the properties for your
project, and select "Deployment Assembly", and let us know what's setup in
there? You may be able to get your views deploying correctly by adding the
necessary entries in there to map the folders from your project to where
they should be in the directory deployed to TomEE.
I'd guess /project/view -> / and project/resources/WEB-INF -> /WEB-INF
would be needed from the description you've given.
Still more than happy to take a look at a project if that's any help.

Re: Jboss to TomEE migration - Eclipse Issues

Hi!
That tutorial should be pretty good, but if you have any suggestions to
improve it once your project is deploying correctly, please do let us know!
Sounds like Eclipse is publishing a .war to TomEE as you're getting a
WEB-INF/classes folder, and it sounds like TomEE is recognising it as a web
module as its deploying your beans from that folder - it just sounds like
Eclipse isn't picking up all of your resources to include them in the
exploded war directory, and I guess it can be made to work by tweaking your
project's config in Eclipse slightly.
Are you able to share part of your project? If you were able to copy it,
remove your classes and view and replace them with some simple Hello world
style classes/views (or even just share your .project, .classpath and
.settings files) - I'm more than happy to take a look and see if I can make
some suggestions to get the rest of your project deploying correctly.
Can you also let us know what version of TomEE and what version of Eclipse
you are using?
Thanks
