Who is following external Outreachy sponsorship for Apache projects?

Hi All,

I have heard two options to doing Outreachy at the ASF: direct sponsor from
the foundation and external sponsorship targeting Outreachy for Apache
projects.

Just wanted to know who is trying to raise funds at their company or from
any external source targeting apache Outreachy.

This is not a commitment, but rather to gauge interest and estimate how
many interns we might be able to accommodate.

Can you mention if you are doing something? If that's even ethical or
allowed here.

Thanks.

Hi Awasum,

Se haven't decided yet to raise funds for the Outreachy program, but I am
happy to see this question.

I am cc'ing Daniel Ruggeri who can speak to how an individual can help with
fundraising (if possible at all).

Clarifying question: where, specifically, will those funds come from /
go to (in the *bank account* sense)?

1. If someone is hoping to donate funds *to the ASF* related to any
topic, you should work with VP Fundraising:

  https://fundraising.apache.org/

2. If you're working on getting anyone to donate *to Outreachy*, then
just go for it! If donors want Outreachy to sponsor internships at the
ASF, the financing side is up to Outreachy, not us. Then the real
questions will be 1) finding committed mentors at specific Apache
projects, and 2) having D&I or other meta-mentors here ensuring all the
coordination is done between the ASF and Outreachy.

As a general statement, 2. above is easy; 1. above will require more
discussion and approval from the board and Fundraising.

Other question: who here is directly working with someone at Outreachy,
and have you asked if they want to join us on dev@ here? 8-)
