AntContrib: Who maintains it?

I've known a lot of people who like to use AntContrib, but I have a
few questions about it:

* Who maintains it? It apparently looks like no one is actively maintain it.
* When was the last release? I believe AntContrib has been at the 1-b2
release for years.
* Why aren't these tasks simply added to the standard Ant release? If
people find these tasks useful, and many of tasks seem to add quite a
bit of utility to Ant. Why not simply add these tasks to standard Ant?
