switch/relocate

Hi there

I use Tortoise SVN to perform switch/relocate operation

When I perform Relocate from different repository to other repository,
end up with the below error

Repository UUID 'caf56641-085b-0410-af7f-ec73cabeaa4c' doesn't match
expected UUID '795542c8-a925-0410-88d3-f2a1649e7bb7'

I know that Relocate is only needed, if the path to a repository has
changed.

Switch is needed, if changing the path inside a repository

The reason for doing switch/relocate is recently I mirrored a repository
from one to other

Could you please let me know the reason behind the error or I am doing
something wrong.

Regards

Sounds like you made a mirror OK, but forgot to copy UUID. From SVN book:

/First, you need to ensure that both the primary and mirror repositories
have the same repository UUID (which is not the case by default). See
the section called “Managing Repository UUIDs”
<http://svnbook.red-bean.com/en/1.5/svn.reposadmin.maint.html#svn.reposadmin.maint.uuids>
later in this chapter for more about this.

use just a simple filesystem copy. then it works. be sure nobody try to access the repository you copy.

Thanks for the suggestion

I mirrored the repository by (svnadmin dump and svnadmin load).

Took a dump of the old repository, and loaded the dump into the new
repository

The error message says it all - the two repositories are not the same.

In order to use switch/relocate, you need to be still pointing at the
same repository. It's clear that isn't the case, due to the mismatch in
the UUIDs of each repository.

How did you do the mirror from one repository to the other?

Cheers,
Daniel B.
