Re: Publishing to the Data Sink url failed
Hi,
I am still stuck at this. Can anyone please help me.
Also please help me understand the following point.
"This is not part of Savan implementation. Subscriber is supposed to "know"
his own data sink."
So how does the subscriber know some data is published? Will it keep on
polling the sink at periodic interval? (Please excuse my lack of
understanding.)

thanks for the picture of which I was not aware; an as it is; here my few points ...
Implementing a publisher subscriber model, I would expect to see the two entities in the model, the subscriber and the publisher.
The subscriber is shown in the model below, however not to the full extend.
But the publisher is not clearly shown in the model at all; it has to be anticipated somehow and this may lead to confusion.
Further it could be helpful if it is clearly said somewhere, which of the components shown below behave as web service client(s) and which of the components shown below behave as web service server, OR BOOTH, client and server at some time, hence they have an endpoint for addressing!
So let me attempt to clear the view: subscriber is first clearly in a client function passing the endpoint of the data-sink to the (publisher's-data-source) together with the event it is interested in. The data-source (publisher) uses a subscriber manager (better call it "subscription-list- manager") to store those endpoints interested in receiving data up on availability or change by the publisher (data-source).
Assume, once the data-source changes it's state (i.e.), said this is an event, data-source can retrieve from subscriber-list all endpoints interested on this event, namely a change of the data-source and then publish this changed data to the endpoints found in the subscriber-list.
>From a web service point of view:
The publisher (made from data-source and subscription manager) is twofold.
1. A web service server receiving the subscription-data from the subscriber AND
2. A web service client sending the changed-data (event) from the data-source to all data-sinks (subscribers)
AND
The subscriber (made from data-sink and a subscriber) is twofold too.
1. A web service client (subscriber) sending a subscription (including data-sink endpoint and event) to a web service server (publisher (data-source)) AND
2. A web service server (subscriber (data-sink)) receiving the event/changed data from the (publisher (data-source))
Maybe someone can give a better description;
but if the model would show both, subscriber and publisher in their twofold function (client and server) then things become clear.

the publisher informs the subscriber when the information becomes available or it delivers the information straight to the subscriber up on availability
Can you provide the implementations used to implement one or both paradigms.
Savan/C is basically a pub/sub implementation

I am interested in this aspects too.

2. We have the publisher / subscriber paradigm
In the provider / consumer paradigm the consumer polls on a regular
basis for information provided by the provider
In a publisher / subscriber paradigm, the subscriber subscribes once
with the publisher and defines the information it is interested in and
the publisher informs the subscriber when the information becomes
available or it delivers the information straight to the subscriber up
on availability
Can you provide the implementations used to implement one or both
paradigms.

your client program
