<pctony> Adam, I cant do this yet. It's not very clear what you want done. Your SVN tree contains a CMS layout (the staging view is not the same as your live site (http://sis.staging.apache.org/sis/ vs http://incubator.apache.org/sis/) -- It seems you are still copying data onto minotaur directly and having rsync copy it to the mirrors. Please note that this will cease to work in January. I cannot see the built copy of your si

Hey Tony,

Thanks for looking into this. At the moment, the CMS staging site for SIS is empty and still just a template. The SIS team haven't started using it yet but are aware of the January deadline. I had some spare time so I thought I would seize the initiative and get some momentum going by requesting the CMS staging area (in INFRA-5015). In hindsight, I probably should have set up the template structure in a separate folder, as it has caused some confusion having both the original site and the CMS stuff in the same place.

I'm a fairly new member of the SIS team and I don't know a lot about the existing site (http://incubator.apache.org/sis), but I think you're right about it being copied to minotaur directly and rsync'ed to the mirrors. We use Maven to build the project and I think that's how a lot of the website content is generated (javadoc, reports, etc).

Discussions are ongoing on the SIS mailing lists about updating the website (tracked by JIRA issue SIS-31). I may have misunderstood, but I believe that the SIS team would find it useful to continue using Maven to generate the site content, but would also like to use Twitter Bootstrap for styling, formatting etc. (as used by thrift.apache.org). Would this be possible while also using CMS to publish the site? If so, we might need some advice from the Infra team on how to fit these three things together!

Regarding the best way forward for migrating the site from incubator to top-level, I believe that the senior members of the SIS team, such as Adam Estrada and Chris Mattmann, will comment further soon. In the meantime, I just wanted to add some context by letting you know about the CMS stuff and some of the discussions taking place about the SIS website.

Ross

Thanks Ross! I think we would definitely like to use a custom template like Bootstrap but I'm with you on not knowing exactly how to incorporate it in to the CMS. It looks like there is a template language that is used within the HTML but that is as far as I've gotten. I will research exactly how to do this later this week.
