In the documentation for the config.xml and the documentation for the command line interface, there is no mention that a file called 'defaults.xml' in the platform's 'cordova' directory is used to generate that platform's config.xml file when you run 'cordova prepare <platform>' or 'cordova build <platform>' from the CLI.
