I have tried this:

check out a snapshot version @
http://people.apache.org/maven-snapshot-repository/org/apache/servicemix/apache-servicemix/3.0-incubating-SNAPSHOT/

I grabbed - apache-servicemix-3.0-incubating-20060907.104512-15.tar.gz 

This contained the proper pom.xml setup, which works because the SNAPSHOT
parent poms actually exist in the repository (see previous posts).

It will take a bit of time for all the dependencies to be resolved the first
time you type 'mvn install'.
