Call for meetup talk

Hey all,

We have one more slot to fill for the next meetup at WePay on November 16:

  http://www.meetup.com/Bay-Area-Apache-Airflow-Incubating-Meetup/events/234778571/

The slot is for 15m + 5m Q&A, so it's not too much of a commitment.
Would you like to speak? If so, let me know!

Cheers,
Chris

We can definitely do this! I think following Max's suggestion sounds
good. Short recap, then breakout.

Not trying to start a +1 thread, just popping in because I work with Rob,
but some of my hands-down favorite meetup events have been because of
discussions from these BoF-style breakouts.

Also I think it's always great to have someone do a recap of what happened
recently and what's happening next. I can do it but would be more than
happy to have another committer lead this.

I'd really like to see people broadcasting their areas of focus and have
organized breakout sessions. Maybe we can have a short open mic time right
before the breakout where people can just say something like " I'm Max from
Airbnb and I'd like to lead a discussion about distributed logging, I'll be
sitting at that table over-there, please join me if you are interested in
this subject." This could lead to good interactions and people getting
setting themselves to cooperate together after the meetup.

Hey Rob,

That would be great! Could you please send me a title/abstract similar
to the others listed on the meetup?

Hi Chris,

If you guys think it would be helpful/interesting to the meetup audience,
my colleague Tim and I would be interested in talking about how we use
Airflow to coordinate our Spark jobs on EMR.

I wrote the EMR tooling
<https://github.com/apache/incubator-airflow/pull/1630> (hook, operators,
sensors) for Airflow so hopefully this could be a good video documentation
of how to use it. Tim wrote many of our Spark jobs and has more context on
how/why we use Airflow in this way for it.

Let me know if you think this would be good. Happy to put together a short
abstract. Thanks,

Rob
