Ok. I had disregarded that idea since my value property was defined as a double in the Java class (I thought that that would automatically try and change the string input into a double before being used elsewhere). Oops :-)

It might be a good idea to add some kind of a note on to that validation page in the user's guide that says some validators require translators to work.
