For source code look in at the portlets that come with Jetspeed.

For registry entries, there is lots of examples in the
/webapp/WEB-INF/conf.
All portlets are found in /src/java/org/apache/jetspeed/portal/portlets

There is also the PortletHowto Tutorial and other docs at
http://jakarta.apache.org/jetspeed
