Another testing session for 2.0 RC1?

Hi Lenya devs,

ATM we have one blocker and one critical bug scheduled for 2.0:

43750 blo - editor problems in non-root context
43864 cri - oneform and tinymce eat umlauts when proxy is used

I can't reproduce either of them anymore. It would be great if some
others (with a working proxy setup) could try it as well. If we can
confirm that these bugs are fixed, IMO we can release 2.0 RC1.

Would it make sense to organize another testing session on IRC?
IIUC Jann and others are facing some issues with their proxy setup.

WDYT?

my "docu" is not meant for end-users but for developers to create a
reproducible proxy testing scaffold.

if you have found out things of interest to users, put them on the
website, where it's more visible. if you have found problems specific to
the test scenario i described, please update the proxytest README.

i hope that we can update to jetty6 for 2.0.1, and then the two can be
merged.

BTW there are two proxy setup documentation. One on the website and the
joern's docu under tools/proxytest/. I will update the proxy website
with my findings.

OK, this sounds reasonable.

OK, sounds good.

I think this is realistic, and I'll invest as much time as I can afford.

IMO tagging is equal to release, since you do a svn cp of the trunk of a
certain revision. Meaning RC1 is heavily outdated right now.

IMO we should not release non of the RC (as bin) to the open public to
shorten the release cycle. Otherwise I am afraid that we will take way
too much time to have a release.

As soon as we devs are happy and agree on a RC I propose to have a
release as 2.0-beta. Announce it and ask for feedback.

SHORTLY after that we should release 2.0 and start preparing 2.0.1.

Personally I hope we can have a 2.0 release before 14.12 because I will
go in vacation around that date.

I will tag a rc2 as soon we settle the cocoon stuff (seems to be very
soon as well).

But since we didn't actually release RC1, wouldn't that be just another
take of RC1? We already tagged RC1 a while ago and started the process
again because blockers were found. IMO it would sound strange to release
RC2 if no RC1 had been announced to the public.

Actually not RC1 anymore, since we found issues and fixed them in the
trunk. Meaning I will roll another RC (RC2) which we should test again.

I think that would be nice, since last night we found some issues which
have been discussed on irc. I will add the log to the svn now.

yeah, Jörn enhanced the docu yesterday maybe we can describe the trouble
to set up there and note how we fixed it.

Well when I came home there was no electricity because we had too much
rain here in Spain. However I just created a new RC2 based on r596869 of
the trunk.

as to the second bug, we might drop that to "normal". it only bites
proxy users under jetty apparently, and tinymce is not exactly core
