[BOOK] - translation to german

Hi everyone


I'm new to subversion and I'm new to your dev mailing list. I've got a 
hand of simple questions:

1. Is someone working on a translation to german of the official 
subversion book?

2. Do you think it is a necessity to translate this book? Perhaps you 
think there will be a necessity later?

3. Are there some other people who want do this job?


Perhaps some words why I'm asking that:
Because I think now it's time to do something for the OpenSource 
cummunity. I use Linux just for ca. 3 years but now I want to give the 
community something back. And I know a translation is a lot of work, but 
maybe someone could help me or just support me to translate the book.

a good question. I was "lost in work" for two month and i finished another
project _today_ and think i can continue translating with end of october
(may be earlier).

karl heinz marbaise committed chapter0 to chapter2 and i think he
is working on chapter3.
i translated foreword and capter9 downto chapter8 and interrupted in the 
middle of chapter7, but i have to rework may translations because 
i am not happy with some decisions that i made.

dominik guder posted a refew on the german-tranlation-mailinglist.

so chapter4 to chapter6 are "free" - or reviewing the work of karl.


you can subscribe the very-very-low-volume mailinglist for german 
translators with a mail to <svn-l10n-de-subscribe@lug.krems.cc<

The book was a great help for me, and i think it is for everyone
who is new in revisioning. 

beside: the translation of the program-messages is "in good hands", so 
i think the tranlation of the book is the next step.

A start has been made to translate the book.  It's even in the Subversion
repository at
http://svn.collab.net/repos/svn/trunk/doc/translations/german/.  There have
been no commits since June 30 though, so I have no idea if it's still
actively translated.

Maybe you can contact Gerhard Oettl or Karl Heinz Marbaise to see if you can
help.  You should be able find their e-mail addresses in the COMMITTERS file
in the top of the source tree.

Well, I have no idea, about urgency, but any contribution is welcome...

At least two :-) and they already started.

That's why we prefer to have at least 3 translators per book translation.
