http://wiki.apache.org/struts/StrutsCatalogDispatchUtil
I have provided what I think is a superior rendition of
SimpleDispatchAction at
http://wiki.apache.org/struts/StrutsCatalogDispatchUtil , following what
I think is an excellent suggestion by Hubert Rabago, viz. to use a
utility class. Niall decided that was not a good idea because of the
lack of mapping in the util Hubert briefly discussed. I have created a
new Util, separate from Struts. As I have said in the past, I think
these classes should not go into Struts but be available on the wiki for
applications, to avoid fiefdoms in Struts. All the attempts to add our
own little two cents to the existing code and bloat the whole business
into an ego show. Anyway, please observe the Critics Corner suggestion
of providing links rather than diatribes to
thehttp://wiki.apache.org/struts/StrutsCatalogDispatchUtil , so that it
will remain readable.

If you know how to use CVS, I can set you up there. There are many projects
under Struts on sf.net. Come on over and join the fun.

I look upon this type of code, along with a lot of code that has
unfortunately actually been put into Struts, e.g. DispatchAction and its
progeny, as more of a pattern than as the cat's meow, Martin. So, so
long as the critics keep to the Critics Corner provided on the wiki, I
don't see changes as particularly important. It is the tune and the
chorus, not the rest of the lyrics, that I mean to provide. I am going
to check out SourceForge, however, and thank you for your suggestion. I
was invited over there once, I think.

Wouldn't it be better to host the actual code in CVS somewhere, rather
than people having to copy/paste from the wiki, and having no way to
know when it has been updated, or what the changes are? You might want
to look at the Struts Applications project on SourceForge, which looks
to me to be an appropriate place for this.
