Re: Is HTTPS supported in JMeter!!

Posted by "Sriram Anandraj .S" <ss...@cisco.com>.
Hi,

When I run HTTPS requests in CLI (jmeter -n -t https_tests.jmx) I get the
response and tests are successful..

But if I open the same jmx file containing https requests in GUI, I don't
get any response.
Following is the error message in jmeter.log file.

Please let me know what should I do to get rid of this and make my jmx
file work in GUI.
Is it require to change anything in jmeter.properties file !!!

Thanks
Sriram

Re: Is HTTPS supported in JMeter!!

Posted by Tarang Patel <ne...@rocketmail.com>.
What you are seeing is the normal behavior, with the
client sending an "Alert:warning" of a "Close notify"
needed to notify to the server that the client has
finished sending data.

There is no problem as far as the log you provide,
now whether you had a successful test or not may be a
separate issue.

Re: Is HTTPS supported in JMeter!!

Posted by "Sriram Anandraj .S" <ss...@cisco.com>.
Hi,

I also stored the keystore with p12 extension using keytool.
I get the following exception in the command prompt.

D:\tools\jakarta-jmeter-1.8.1\bin>jmeter.bat
keyStore is : D:\javahome\jdk1.4\lib\security\cacerts.p12
keyStore type is : pkcs12
init keystore
default context init failed: java.io.IOException: DerInputStream.getLength():
le
ngthTag=109, too big.
Thread Group-1, SEND SSL v3.1 ALERT: warning, description = close_notify
Thread Group-1, WRITE: SSL v3.1 Alert, length = 2
Thread Group-1, SEND SSL v3.1 ALERT: warning, description = close_notify
Thread Group-1, WRITE: SSL v3.1 Alert, length = 2

Any info will be of great help.

Thanks
Sriram

Re: Is HTTPS supported in JMeter!!

Posted by "Sriram Anandraj .S" <ss...@cisco.com>.
Hi Tarang,

I ftped the server.crt file from solaris to my windows
machine(d:\javahome\jdk1.4\bin) where JMeter is installed.
I did the following
D:\javahome\jdk1.4\bin>keytool.exe -import -file server.crt -keystore
..\lib\security\cacerts

Executing the above asked for password, I gave the application login
passoword.
Keystore cacerts got created in d:\javahome\jdk1.4\lib\security folder.

Now I started JMeter in the command prompt. Using SSL Manger link in the
options menu I selected 'cacerts' file from
the security folder.

When running the test which basically sends https login request to the
server. I get the following message in the command promt.
I don't see any response to the request in 'View Results in table'.

NOTE: In JMeter.properties file I uncommented the following line inorder
to get the SSL Manager' link in options menu.
ssl.provider=com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.Provider.

Am I missing something for testing HTTPS requests. Any Info will be of
great help.

Re: Is HTTPS supported in JMeter!!

I am running 1.8.1, and it does have the SSL manager
in the option menu.

Check your jmeter.properties file, as there is
not_in_menu key that controls what appears in the
menu, and you may have SSL_Manager scoped out.

You need to store your server cert into a keystore
file, use JDK keystore utility, comes with JDK. Then
in Jmeter use the Options->SSL Manager to point to the
keystore file. It will ask for a password, the
keystore password.

Then you are set to go.

Hi,

I am using 1.8.1 version, I am not able to see the SSL Manager in options
menu bar. Which version supports SSL ?
Require authentication through JMeter for subsequent https requests, what
need to be done. Any input will be of great help.

Thanks
Sriram

Yes, but my experience indicates that it isn't to be
relied on for any load test that you might do.
