IMO the patch isn't usable.  It requires an external module, Linux::Pid, which
also (surprise) only works on Linux and so doesn't address the other platforms
that use SA.

Beyond the fact that we don't really support using SA in a threaded environment.
 (not that I'm against it, just that we don't currently ...)
