Six years after filing this bug report (under a different name, whose email
address no longer exists) I accidentally clicked on the column heading instead
of the top cell in the column and didn't realise until I'd hit ctrl-V.

Half an hour later, I killed the application.

I think it can be safely assumed that most users most of the time do not want
to paste into a million rows at once, and that those that do want to do it
would appreciate a warning that they won't be able to do anything else for a
long, long time.
