[jira] [Commented] (WHIMSY-77) Add "svn info" output for private
repositories
[ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/WHIMSY-77?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=15951423#comment-15951423 ]
Sebb commented on WHIMSY-77:
----------------------------
There are of course SVN client GUI apps which would provide the info and more.
For example Tortoise (Windows) and SnailSVN (MacOSX).
I tried Tortoise in the past; not tried the latter.

> Priority: Minor

> As discussed on hipchat: some ASF Officers do not usually have command line access or a checked out /private/* repo, but still need to see metadata about files in the repo. svn.a.o doesn't show metatdata, and our /viewvc instance doesn't support private repos.
> whimsy.a.o/committers/viewvc
> Login to get credentials
> Dropdown: supported /private/ repos we have configured (at least committers and foundation)
> Provide the path, and whimsy displays output of svn info for the path
> Include clickable link to the actual svn.a.o/path/file if user wants file contents
> Bonus feature: allow basic directory traversal within that repo
> Bonus feature: accept partial paths to obvious places (so foundation/Meetings would guess at the right place)
