User-Management
Hi there,
I am quite new to Turbine and want to write an application that displays
different content for different users. unfortunately i couldn't figure
out the relation between the different user-roles managed by flux and
the screen content. it would be nice if someone could tell me, where in
the code i can specify the screen content for each usergroup.
regards,

'lo
in your 'screen'.doBuildTemplate make a switch-case using the access
control list for the user and prepare some different informations for
each kind of role and expose some booleans is'RoleName'
has'PermissionsName' and use the 'if elseif else' commands of velocity
with the booleans to publish # content for #roles and/or #permissions

I haven't done this yet, but I'll try to offer some ideas.
Look at the org.apache.turbine.services.pull.util.UIManager pull tool.
It supports skins. You may have to set some stuff in a screen class.

You have three basic options for making data available on a Velocity
template.
1) Use an action to put data into the context.
2) Use a screen class to put data into the context.
3) Use a pull tool to return data.
For the first two options, you can always get the user from
data.getUser(). You can get the user's role information from the
security service. With all of that information you can decide what data
to put into the context.
For the last option, you have a few options for how you will get the
current user depending on the scope of the pull tool. Once you have the
user, you can easily get to the role information. What is so different
about this approach is that you will create methods for the tool that
you will call from the template.
I would recommend that you use the pull tool approach. I think that you
will find that it is generally the most flexible way and maintainable
way to accomplish your goal.
