Re: Web-self-service app

Floyd, et al.

I want to raise this concern. The self-service app (which is a mifos GitHub
repo, not fineract.apache) should be used only in a non-production
environment.
Or, if you are planning on running it in production, then you should get
advice on how to secure it for distribution. In particular, others on these
lists have noted that it should be run via a separate proxy (that doesn't
directly connect to the core).

Meanwhile, The Mifos initiative is working to enhance the
architecture around the front end channels, including the "self-service"
and other customer facing apps. This involves the use of the Open Banking
standard now adopted in the UK, at least as a starting point. This will,
for purposes of fineract, be a wrapper around the core fineract release.
Mifos intends to release this code as open source as well, likely in the
next few months. If you are able to contribute to that effort ($$ or
senior devs) please let us know via the listserv or via the usual channels.

In 2015, I was a big proponent of creating the self-service app as Mifos
needed a "direct to customer" application for demonstration purposes. The
devs at the time did a great job. It has served the community well.

Best,
Jdailey
