[Bug 122459] New: full screen mode: Ctrl-V / Ctrl-A do not work
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=122459
Bug ID: 122459
Issue Type: DEFECT
Summary: full screen mode: Ctrl-V / Ctrl-A do not work
Product: Writer
Version: AOO 3.4.1
Hardware: Mac
OS: Mac OSX, 10.8
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: editing
Assignee: issues@openoffice.apache.org
Reporter: centraljeffrey-bearlist@yahoo.com
CC: issues@openoffice.apache.org
1. Open new text document
2. Type sample sentence, copy text into clipboard
3. View document in Full Screen mode
4. Attempt to paste clipboard using keyboard shortcut (Ctrl-V)
5. While still in Full Screen mode, also attempt to Select All using keyboard
shortcut (Ctrl-A)
6. Note that both functions work properly if using the 'Edit' menu, it is only
keyboard shortcuts that do not work. And only when in Full Screen mode.
7. Hope I'm wrong.

I attempted to recreate the bug on
OpenOffice.org 3.4.1
Max OS X v10.7.5 and v10.8
I...
1) Opened a new text document in AOO Writer
2) Typed in "My name is Daniel."
3) Highlighted text with mouse.
4) Copied text to clipboard using command+c
5) Moved to a new line and pasted text using command+v
- pasting was successful.
6) Entered Fullscreen mode via View -> Fullscreen.
7) Moved to a new line and attempted to paste text via command+v.
- This did not result in the copied text being pasted.
8) Highlighted "My name is Daniel" while in Fullscreen mode and attempted to
copy to clipboard via command+c
9) Moved to a new line and attempted to paste text via command+v
- The text did not paste.
10) Highlighted original text via mouse -> right click -> copy. Moved to new
line -> right click -> paste.
- The text was pasted successfully.
11) Exited Fullscreen mode and attempted steps 2 - 5 with the same result(from
step 5).
12) Did steps 1 - 11 using command+A(select All). Same results, i.e. the
keyboard shortcuts did not work only in Fullscreen mode but using a mouse did.
Tested these same steps on Windows 7 Professional SP1 and was able to
successfully copy/paste and select all in Fullscreen mode.
13) Repeated steps 1 - 9 then highlighted original text via mouse and attempted
to copy via command+C
14) Moved to a new line and attempted to paste via Right Click -> Paste
- Paste was successful.
The bug seems to come from the keyboard shortcut for Pasting(command+V).
Decided to test a similar keyboard shortcut: Undo(command+Z)
15) Repeated steps 1 - 5 but then used the Undo command via
shortcut(command+Z).
- The pasted text was removed successfully.
16) Switched to Fullscreen mode(View -> Fullscreen) and repeated step 15
- text was NOT successfully removed.
Tested a number of other keyboard shortcuts using steps 15 and 16.
Results:
Print(command+P): Unsuccessful in Fullscreen Mode
Right/Left Align(command+R and command+L): Successful in both modes
Underline(command+D): Successful in both modes
Save file(command+S): Unsuccessful in Fullscreen Mode
Open File(command+O): Unsuccessful in Fullscreen Mode
Some keyboard shortcuts appear to work fine in Fullscreen mode while others do
not. Not sure if this was intended or not. Must do more research on
availability of keyboard shortcuts in Fullscreen mode to confirm.

Attempted the same tests of multiple keyboard shortcuts on a Windows 7
Professional Sp1 with OpenOffice.org 3.4.1 and all shortcuts tested worked
successfully in both modes.

The steps I took to replicate this bug were as follows:
To test the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-V and Ctrl-A I followed these steps:
Open new text document in OO using a Windows 7 opertating system
I accessed full screen mode. Using the toll bar select View → Fullscreen. I
typed the following sentence “The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.”
Using my mouse I right clicked and highlighted the sentence. Hit Ctrl-C to
copy the sentence
Space down to next line and hit Ctrl-V to paste. The function worked. See
results on line below:
“The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.”
I exited full screen mode and was able to use the Ctrl-V function to paste.
Again functionality worked as expected.
In full screen mode I hit Ctrl-A. The entire page was highlighted. Space down
and hit Ctrl-V to paste. Function worked as expected.
Exit full screen mode hit Ctrl-A. Again the entire page was highlighted. I
spaced down to the next line and hit Ctrl-V. The paste function worked as
expected.
I attempted a few other keyboard shortcuts to see if I could trigger any other
failures.
Ctrl-P – Print
In full screen mode I hit Ctrl-P. The print function was successfully
Exited full screen mode hit Ctrl-P. The print function was successful
Ctrl-L and Ctrl-R - Left/Right command
In full screen mode I hit Ctrl-R. The alignment adjusted to the right. I then
hit Ctrl-L and the alignment adjusted to the left. Left/Right function was
successfully
Exited full screen mode hit Ctr-R then Ctrl-L. Left/Right alignment function
was successful
Ctrl-D - Underline
Tested Ctrl-D in full screen mode by highlighting a section using my mouse then
hitting Ctrl-D. Underline function was successful
Exited fullscreen mode and hit Ctrl-D. Underline function was successful
I was able to successfully use the the keyboard functions in full screen mode
without any issue on my window 7 operating system

Please test if the issue occurs with actual 4.x versions. Because of new
implementation of AOO for Mac this issue is OBSOLETE.
