This problem is caused by the <textarea id="notification.message" ...>
tag in .../webapp/lenya/xslt/notification/message2xslt.xsl collapsing
when there is nothing inside it (<textarea ...></textarea> becomes
<textarea ... />). Both IE and Firefox fail to render this properly.
But if you add a non-breaking space ( ) at the end of line 81 the
problem goes away.
Is there a better solution?
