CXF 3.0.0 Milestone 2 JAX-RS front-end offers a complete JAX-RS 2.0 support, has fewer dependencies and is smaller compared to CXF 2.7.x one. It is also backward-compatible with the applications written against JAX-RS 1.1.

So it should be a safe upgrade
