[Issue 126548] New: Sidebar in Draw

https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=126548

          Issue ID: 126548
        Issue Type: DEFECT
           Summary: Sidebar in Draw
           Product: Draw
           Version: 4.1.1
          Hardware: PC
                OS: Windows 7
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: minor
          Priority: P5
         Component: ui
          Assignee: issues@openoffice.apache.org
          Reporter: user@register4.me.uk

With Sidebar menu enabled there is a vertical full height menu bar with just 4
icons to the top + a drop menu for selecting which 4 show. When the properties
menu is enabled the Insert Shapes menu shows regardless of whether the lower
text/para/area/line/position options are showing. The width of the panel is
determined by all the text/para/area/line/position option menus that need to
fully show when activated. Much of the time I am left with a very large blank
panel with just a couple of rows of shapes icons to the top. This can be 15% of
the drawing area on my large screen, 20-30% on a smaller screen, subject to
usable resolution.
Why not place the Shapes icons vertically in the sidebar toolbar below the
icons for Styles/Gallery/Navigator and do away with the Properties icon? The
option to show the Shapes icons would be controlled by selecting Properties in
the top drop menu (or rename 'Shapes'. When an existing shape on the screen was
activated, or a Shape icon on the vertical menu, the full panel would open to
show the text/para/area/line/position options.
This would avoid keeping a great big mainly blank panel open between setting up
shapes, or manually opening and closing it to make space.
Styles/Gallery/Navigator icon actions would work as they do now.

Could you attach a picture (like a mockup) to show what you described?
