a bit late my post, I know - I had some days off.

Did you try to increase the value for MaxClients?
Your prob looks quite familiar to me.

It just happened..  I tried telnet, ftp, smtp and all were functioning,
server load was below 1.00

happened, so I knew it was not the newest version so I put it back on after
