[Bug 6638] New: The 3.3.2 release notes file has not been committed to svn

https://issues.apache.org/SpamAssassin/show_bug.cgi?id=6638

             Bug #: 6638
Summary: The 3.3.2 release notes file has not been committed to
                    svn
           Product: Spamassassin
           Version: 3.3.2
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Documentation
        AssignedTo: dev@spamassassin.apache.org

3.3.2 release announcement from the announcement email that was sent

There is no 3.3.2.txt file in build/announcements directory. As far as I can
see from previous releases it ought to be committed to trunk as well as branch
3.3.

I'm attaching a 3.3.2.txt file with the text copied from the release
announcement that was mailed out for the 3.3.2 release and To and Subject lines
in the same format as the 3.3.1.txt file.

I'm also committing it to branch without a vote as it is documentation and the
link to it on our main page is currently broken. Am I correct that this can be
done as C-T-R even to branch?

Where is the release manager checklist? We should add this step to it if it is
not already there.

Is it too minor to worry about not having release notes in the 3.3.2
distribution tarball or do we need to do something about that?

>From the release process documentation in trunk/build/README

"Write the release announcement mail! This is a simple matter of copying
the previous release's announcement, updating the version numbers and
links, fixing the MD5 and SHA1 checksums in this mail, and summarising
the important changes from the Changes file.

    cp build/announcements/3.1.7.txt build/announcements/3.1.8.txt
    svn add !$
    vi !$
"

I think the bug is that these steps will not work if the release manager uses
emacs instead of vi :)

The procedure was not followed correctly for the 3.3.1 release, with 3.3.1.txt
only being committed to branch. To get things right for the record, I'm
committing it to trunk too.

svn ci -m "bug 6638 - 3.3.1.txt should have been added to trunk as well as
branch" 3.3.1.txt
Adding 3.3.1.txt
Transmitting file data .
Committed revision 1149758.

3.3.2.txt file with some word wrap and whiespace wonkiness fixed

Nothing can work right the first time :)
The commits had bad word wrap as a result of copying and pasting from a mail
client. These two commits fix the word wrap/whitespace ugliness in trunk and
branch.

Committed revision 1149753 (trunk)
Committed revision 1149754 (branch/3.3)
