Triage: No response from Andreas in 2+ months, and Glen's problem has been
resolved. 3.1.0 also has significant work in this area which IMO is very likely
to avoid any problem that might exist here. I'm therefore going to close as
Invalid (since we have no way to reproduce Anreas' original problem). Please
reopen if anyone can reproduce this problem in 3.1.0
