Re: [DISCUSS] Our next release

Posted by Simon MacDonald <si...@gmail.com>.
As for the outstanding issue on Android, the only reason it isn't closed
is...

"I had tagged 2.1.0rc2 on Friday but today I fixed:

CB-1303 <https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CB-1303>: Remove References
to the Callback Project
CB-1304 <https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CB-1304>: Update PhoneGap
References to Apache Cordova
CB-1335 <https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CB-1335>: Update www/
Application

these tasks are mostly administrative clean up to remove references to old
projects so we can do an Apache release. I tested to make sure the new
hello world sample application is used when you do a ./bin/create.
Personally I don't think it is necessary to re-tag 2.1.0rc2 to include
these commits but I will if you guys think so."

Should I re-tag or leave it as is?

We still have a few outstanding tasks for CB-1322 (tag 2.1.0rc2) [1].

The pending platforms are:

- Android
- Bada
- Mac
- QT

If any of this platforms are not to be included in the 2.1.0rc2 release,
the platform lead can set the issue as resolved (invalid).

After these issues are resolved, docs will be tagged and 2.1.0rc2 source
release will be cut.

OK, from http://incubator.apache.org/cordova/ if I follow the docs link to
github, I find: The documentation is available at docs.cordova.io.
Which takes me to docs.phonegap.com. It's not obvious to me that a user
would follow the link to github to find docs, though.

Not a hard requirement in the Apache policy sense. It's up to the
project to decide how much and what kind of documentation should
accompany a release.

I hate to ask but, do we have documentation on an apache server? Isn't
that a requirement? I searched on
http://incubator.apache.org/cordova/ and couldn't find a link to any
user docs.

Threw up the source release on my apache space.
http://people.apache.org/~steven/

Take a look at it. When we do the final tag for 2.1.0, I am going to put
this release under http://www.apache.org/dist/incubator/ after we have a
vote thread for it. I have already created a cordova directory and added
the keys file to it. I am assuming it will show up on that site eventually.

much time to help review all the recent release work from the Apache
policy perspective.

But I just gave a quick look at the state of things, and it all looks
really nice. Great work! +1 to move forward with the release.
