[~akumarb2010] I think it's ok to deliver only support for json and then in 1.13.0 as improvement add avro support etc.
In this case just please update this Jira with actual description and create new one for the enhancement.
I'll add this Jira to the list of Jiras targeted for 1.12.0 release, you can follow mail thread on dev list and update it with latest status.
