Podlings needing copyright sign-off

Here's a list of the projects in the Incubator who need to sign off
their copyright item; namely:

"Check and make sure that the papers that transfer rights to the ASF
been received.
It is only necessary to transfer rights for the package, the core
code, and any
new code produced by the project. "

The list is:

2007-10-06	jspwiki
2008-01-06	rat
2008-04-15	bluesky (pending retirement)
2008-08-01	empire-db
2008-09-23	etch
2008-09-29	olio
2008-10-01	vcl
2008-10-23	droids
2008-11-12	tashi
2009-02-09	kato
2009-02-13	stonehenge
2009-05-08	ace
2009-05-13	socialsite
2009-06-25	wink
2009-08-07	vxquery
2009-11-08	hise
2009-12-15	clerezza
2010-01-27	manifoldcf
2010-05-19	amber
2010-05-21	deltacloud
2010-05-24	zetacomponents
2010-07-19	chukwa
2010-09-05	nuvem
2010-09-27	alois
2010-11-02	celix
2010-11-12	kitty
2010-11-24	stanbol
2010-12-02	jena
2010-12-02	opennlp
2010-12-08	wave
2011-01-03	mesos
2011-02-01	easyant
2011-02-05	lucene.net
2011-04-30	ognl
2011-06-13	flume
2011-06-13	openofficeorg
2011-06-13	sqoop

Some are new podlings, so no huge surprise, but others have been
around for a long time.

I think each podling needs to focus on getting this checklist item resolved.

I think we just need to confirm that the paperwork was collected and update the incubator status page.

Some are new podlings, so no huge surprise, but others have been
around for a long time.

I think each podling needs to focus on getting this checklist item resolved.

Checked and we do have a grant at
documents/grants/trialox-clerezza.pdf,
http://incubator.apache.org/projects/clerezza.html should be updated
as soon as my change propagates to the live site.

We do indeed have a code grant for Clerezza at
documents/grants/trialox-clerezza.pdf in that repository.

I have updated [1] accordingly, changes should be visible at [2] soon.

I don't have any archived document on this. Thus, I can't verify it. Maybe
someone else has it. Or we have to ask someone who has access to the
foundation private repository to check the receipt of the copyright
transfer.

Ups, I think we have once done the transfer of the copyright in the very
beginning of the project time.
Where to find the status file to update?

Here's a list of the projects in the Incubator who need to sign off
their copyright item; namely:

"Check and make sure that the papers that transfer rights to the ASF
been received.
It is only necessary to transfer rights for the package, the core
code, and any
new code produced by the project.  "

The list is:

2007-10-06      jspwiki
2008-01-06      rat
2008-04-15      bluesky (pending retirement)
2008-08-01      empire-db
2008-09-23      etch
2008-09-29      olio
2008-10-01      vcl
2008-10-23      droids
2008-11-12      tashi
2009-02-09      kato
2009-02-13      stonehenge
2009-05-08      ace

2009-08-07      vxquery
2009-11-08      hise
2009-12-15      clerezza
2010-01-27      manifoldcf
2010-05-19      amber
2010-05-21      deltacloud
2010-05-24      zetacomponents
2010-07-19      chukwa
2010-09-05      nuvem
2010-09-27      alois
2010-11-02      celix
2010-11-12      kitty
2010-11-24      stanbol
2010-12-02      jena
2010-12-02      opennlp
2010-12-08      wave
2011-01-03      mesos
2011-02-01      easyant
2011-02-05      lucene.net

2011-06-13      flume
2011-06-13      openofficeorg

We should be good. This has been delayed due to the fact I don't have
permission to update the file in svn. I expect to have access in about
72 hours, so I'll just do it then instead of passing it off to someone else.

Ok IMO with the last release preparation we cleared all IP issues. If we
need a written statement for me I can provide one, but as I always said
I do not claim the IP since big chunks of code came from nutch.

We're only 97.5% of the way there - all the big ones are done (HP + our
employers inc CCLA). There are about 10 bug fixes or minor
contributions (one file or less), all BSD, in the code base.

	Andy

The HP software grant covered gvs, and I think clerezza has code derived
a long time ago from that. I've let Reto know.

Everyone was covered by a CLA and in agreement about the move so it was
understood that no grant was necessary[1]

Fwd: Podlings needing copyright sign-off

Posted by Ross Gardler <rg...@opendirective.com>.
Please note that your project is in the list below. As far as I am
aware copyright is already in order for these projects, can someone
please verify this and update the status file accordingly.

Here's a list of the projects in the Incubator who need to sign off
their copyright item; namely:

"Check and make sure that the papers that transfer rights to the ASF
been received.
It is only necessary to transfer rights for the package, the core
code, and any
new code produced by the project.  "

The list is:

2007-10-06      jspwiki
2008-01-06      rat
2008-04-15      bluesky (pending retirement)
2008-08-01      empire-db
2008-09-23      etch
2008-09-29      olio
2008-10-01      vcl
2008-10-23      droids
2008-11-12      tashi
2009-02-09      kato
2009-02-13      stonehenge
2009-05-08      ace
2009-05-13      socialsite
2009-06-25      wink
2009-08-07      vxquery
2009-11-08      hise
2009-12-15      clerezza
2010-01-27      manifoldcf
2010-05-19      amber
2010-05-21      deltacloud
2010-05-24      zetacomponents
2010-07-19      chukwa
2010-09-05      nuvem
2010-09-27      alois
2010-11-02      celix
2010-11-12      kitty
2010-11-24      stanbol
2010-12-02      jena
2010-12-02      opennlp
2010-12-08      wave
2011-01-03      mesos
2011-02-01      easyant
2011-02-05      lucene.net
2011-04-30      ognl
2011-06-13      flume
2011-06-13      openofficeorg
2011-06-13      sqoop

Some are new podlings, so no huge surprise, but others have been
around for a long time.

I think each podling needs to focus on getting this checklist item resolved.

Apologies. I didn't make it. Afraid it will need to wait until next week. It's a formality. I closely monitored the grants. Just didn't update the form. Now only hold up is finding the file to update...

Yes. A mentor needs to re-review the grants and update the status...

I'll get it on my list for tomorrow.

I see Wink is listed here. What else needs to be done?

There's the thread here a few years ago regarding getting the grant
from HP and IBM:

Is it merely updating the status? Thanks.

See <http://incubator.apache.org/guides/mentor.html#initial-ip-clearance>.

There are a fair number of empty checkboxes on
<http://incubator.apache.org/projects/vcl.html>, FWIW. It looks like some
portions of the status page have been kept up to date, while others have been
missed. Some of the incomplete items are gimmes, while others, such as IP
clearance, will require some thought.

I've received at home hard copy grant from Sun for the Olio work. I'm

document I'll update the status when I return (mid-September): grant
received, all committers have signed ICLAs.

However, svn info showed just http, despite what I thought was a

So really using HTTPS, I'm good. Sorry for the noise.

Droids is done, kind of.

Following the instructions here:

I'm getting a 403 when trying to commit, despite being in the incubator

I had sent in the CCLA for Olio in 2008 October. For some reason it doesn't
seem to have been registered by Apache. I have sent Craig Russell the hard

Etch and Tashi are signed off.

Droids (seems the easiest one to sign off on) and Olio (likely to be
retired) left from 2008 inductees.

2009 list remains unchanged from below.

rfrovarp@ is going to take care of Droids.

I've pinged rgass@ and stroucki@ as recent Tashi committers to get it
sorted, and fitzner@ as the recent Etch committer.

Olio sounds like a subject of its own to discuss.

Noting that the following have signed off on the below item now:

* lucene.net
* jspwiki
* rat
* empire-db

With bluesky being retired, that closes out projects starting in 2007
and the first half of 2008.

The remaining 2008 projects are:

* 2008-09-23      etch
* 2008-09-29      olio
* 2008-10-01      vcl
* 2008-10-23      droids
* 2008-11-12      tashi

[My view is that anyone whose been in the incubator longer than 6
months should have successfully resolved this item]

I checked that Apache received the software grant and CLAs. I've

Fwd: Podlings needing copyright sign-off

Posted by Matei Zaharia <ma...@eecs.berkeley.edu>.
Hi Tom, Brian and Ian,

It looks like Mesos isn't yet checked off as having all the copyright forms in place, although I believe we do have all the right forms (copyright grant from Berkeley sent to Sam Ruby, plus CLAs for all the committers). Can you guys make sure that this is the case, and if so, let us know how to update the project status to reflect this? I believe we just need to add some dates to http://incubator.apache.org/projects/mesos.html.

Thanks,

Matei

Hi Henri,

I believe we got all the required documents to the ASF for the Mesos project. What do we need to do to sign off on this?

Fwd: Podlings needing copyright sign-off

Posted by Ross Gardler <rg...@opendirective.com>.
Please note that your project is in the list below. As far as I am
aware copyright is already in order for these projects, can someone
please verify this and update the status file accordingly.

Thanks,
Ross

Here's a list of the projects in the Incubator who need to sign off
their copyright item; namely:

"Check and make sure that the papers that transfer rights to the ASF
been received.
It is only necessary to transfer rights for the package, the core
code, and any
new code produced by the project.  "

The list is:

2007-10-06      jspwiki
2008-01-06      rat
2008-04-15      bluesky (pending retirement)
2008-08-01      empire-db
2008-09-23      etch
2008-09-29      olio
2008-10-01      vcl
2008-10-23      droids
2008-11-12      tashi
2009-02-09      kato
2009-02-13      stonehenge
2009-05-08      ace
2009-05-13      socialsite
2009-06-25      wink
2009-08-07      vxquery
2009-11-08      hise
2009-12-15      clerezza
2010-01-27      manifoldcf
2010-05-19      amber
2010-05-21      deltacloud
2010-05-24      zetacomponents
2010-07-19      chukwa
2010-09-05      nuvem
2010-09-27      alois
2010-11-02      celix
2010-11-12      kitty
2010-11-24      stanbol
2010-12-02      jena
2010-12-02      opennlp
2010-12-08      wave
2011-01-03      mesos
2011-02-01      easyant
2011-02-05      lucene.net
2011-04-30      ognl
2011-06-13      flume
2011-06-13      openofficeorg
2011-06-13      sqoop

Some are new podlings, so no huge surprise, but others have been
around for a long time.

I think each podling needs to focus on getting this checklist item resolved.

I think that we could just send an e-mail to secretary@.

But as this is an important topic, it would be better, if one of our mentors could join the discussion.

Paul, Sanjiva, Radu, Jochen, could you help us to get this right?

Thanks,
Till

Till,

Do you know how we make sure that the grant was received?

Fwd: Podlings needing copyright sign-off

Posted by Till Westmann <ti...@westmann.org>.
Hi Vinayak,

I think that we should be good here, but are missing the checkmark.
You did the software grant when we started.
Are you / can you make sure that it has been received, so that we can check this off?
If you had the date when you first got confirmation that it was received, that'd even be better.

Cheers,
Till

We have a few third party dependencies. The files are in lib
directory with -LICENSE files attached. All code should comply to ASF
license.

Yes. except for the external dependencies in Lib. The code was
completely developed within the Hadoop community or during incubation.
Is there any more that we need to do to check the box?

Aso, all committers should have ICLAs on file...How do we check?

There's a checklist at

http://incubator.apache.org/projects/chukwa.html

I'm confident we could check off a lot of these items already.

For the copyright item, if the code was fully and completely developed
within Hadoop (was it??), then this should be an easy one.

What's the part of this that we need to do?

ICLAs are on file for all the contributors, and the code came out of
Hadoop, where it was Apache licensed.

Is this just a formality of sending an email saying "yup, we're good",
or how does this work?
