Persistent 400 Bad Request errors for some repositories

Using SVN 1.1.3, Mac OS X.3.9 and an Internet connection via my university's
LAN.

There are a number of online SVN repositories that I just can't access. I
suspect it's a proxy problem, but haven't managed to find anything on how to
configure Subversion to go through a proxy server.

Here's what I'm stuck with at the moment:

[masg2-mac:~/Downloads/D/mango] masg2% svn checkout
http://svn.dsource.org/projects/mango
subversion/libsvn_ra_dav/util.c:670: (apr_err=175002)
svn: REPORT request failed on '/projects/mango/!svn/vcc/default'
subversion/libsvn_ra_dav/util.c:294: (apr_err=175002)
svn: REPORT of '/projects/mango/!svn/vcc/default': 400 Bad Request
(http://svn.dsource.org)
[masg2-mac:~/Downloads/D/mango] masg2% svn checkout
svn://svn.dsource.org/projects/mango
subversion/libsvn_ra_svn/client.c:151: (apr_err=60)
svn: Can't connect to host 'svn.dsource.org': Operation timed out

Help me please!

Stewart.
