Hi, I'm a bit new to Apache projects, so first of all forgive me if I've failed to comply with any issue tracker etiquette .

I'm trying to build 1.0.3 (May 2012) release on a 32 bit Ubuntu 12.04 system and having the same issue. Is there a workaround for this ? What about using different later version like 2.X.X does it help ?
Thanks

> This seems to be a Hadoop bug for the "task-controller". Please verify and push up to Hadoop team...
