I have also written up a wiki page on libhdfs: http://wiki.apache.org/lucene-hadoop/LibHDFS - appreciate any feedback. 

Once the Doxygen generated docs are available online (after the patch is committed) I'll go ahead fix links in the wiki for all the apis.
