[Bug 4275] New: oddness in URI parsing
http://bugzilla.spamassassin.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4275
Summary: oddness in URI parsing
Product: Spamassassin
Version: SVN Trunk (Latest Devel Version)
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P5
Component: Libraries
AssignedTo: dev@spamassassin.apache.org
ReportedBy: quinlan@pathname.com
I put these into a message (sample-spam.txt will do)
http://www.yahoo.com
and these URIs are parsed:
dbg: uri: parsed uri found: www.google.com
dbg: uri: parsed uri found: WWW.APACHE.ORG
dbg: uri: parsed uri found: http://www.google.com
dbg: uri: parsed uri found: http://www.yahoo.com
dbg: uri: parsed uri found: http://WWW.APACHE.ORG
dbg: uri: parsed uri found: EXAMPLE.COM
dbg: uri: parsed uri found: http://EXAMPLE.COM
So, the issue (oddness) is that each uppercase scheme URI shows up twice.
The normal lowercase one ("http://www.yahoo.com") only shows up once as
expected.

Will this patch (or some other) also catch mixed-case URIs that SA (3.0.2) does
not currently see, such as
HTTP://WWW.cra3ybiz.com/st.asp
(I made a quick and undoubtedly dirty change in our local PerMsgStatus.pm,
$schemeRE is now
my $schemeRE = qr/(?i:https?|ftp|mailto|javascript|file)/;
and, on our system, mixed-case URIs are now detected properly)

The latter part of this patch that went into 3.1 seems unnecessary in 3.0?
Verification help would be appreciated.
Testing the top part of the patch in Fedora for future 3.0.5.
