SHA algorithm basic question.

Hi,

To obtain a password <James JDBC> compatible, from clear to SHA .... I must:

CLEAR TEXT --> SHA HASH --> BASE 64 ENCODE --> TRUNCATE IN 20 CHARS

Is this correct ?
In this proyect, I cannot use Java to make passwords, I can only use VB (no
comments please).
I'm newbie in hash and enconding algorithms, so please, if one can help me
....

Thanks a lot.

Based on my own experience, yes (done with MD5, but seems to be the same).

Don't forget to trim spaces on the clear text before hashing.
