New install resolved the problem - old original profile w/extensions
etc., all work fine. Sorry for the noise.

PS: ran across an old bug in the process:
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=57935
[do not read /etc/adabasrc for OpenOffice.org]
I've added information to the bug & asked that it be reopened.

Cool. Please start a new thread (meaning start an entirely new email
with your subject) rather then just changing (hijacking) the subject of
the existing thread: "[Resolved] Re: [linux] AOO 3.4.0 multiple crashes"

Thanks

alternatives to BASIC for macros / programming in calc

Posted by Gary Aitken <op...@dreamchaser.org>.
I've got some excel spreadsheets that currently have macros written in VB.
Some of those macros use functions not implemented in aoo.
I'm thinking of rewriting the whole thing.

I'm not particularly well-versed in either aoo or office macros.
Is there a language common to both other than BASIC?
Any chance there is a java backend that will work for both?

Any and all hints appreciated

Thanks,

Gary
